MB threw me off for a moment, when he said this brand was not available on the West Coast. In the mid-2000s, I used to live near Palm Springs and would regularly buy Dreyer’s, Breyer’s and Eddy’s. I recall seeing Edy’s from one point on, and wondering if this was some kind of knock-off competitor, but since the drum looked the same, I assumed they’d just dropped a D from the brand name. Anyway, in the comment below, a Youtuber states Dreyer’s and Eddy’s were both available in the same markets sometimes.
Was always Edy’s for me, and pronounced “Ee-dee’s”. Also, for the record (In case anyone researches and gets confused.): There is also a Dreyer’s Ice Cream that is the exact same as Edy’s, its just an alternate name imprint in some markets (Usually the eastcoast US is “Edy’s” and the west is “Dreyer’s” but sometimes you see both. – Ender Skies
Eddy’s – 325
Edy’s – 50
YT description: I priced Eddy’s Ice Cream for Safeway for 1 1/2 years and the name has lost the letter D. I always recall two d’s in the name and I had to verify pricing of this item in the Safeway add on a weekly basis. This was very popular at our Doninick’s grocery chain in Chicago.
