Run time: 2 hours. This movie was all right. Besides the entertainment value, I watched it to see how the group of diverse characters was first assembled, and how they went on to interact with one another. Interesting that the royal guards of two kings could not handle the robotic bad guys, but the lesser equipped and unruly group of bandits could. As far as the different parts, they were as diverse as I’d hoped, but unfortunately they all had no chance to really shine. Even the main protagonist and his captured love interest had no depth to them.

As far as the plot goes, it was atrocious. There were too many contrived or forced scenes / meetings, that a 2 hour movie could have smoothed out. Two big mistakes were unforgivable for me. One, you can’t have bad guys with laser rifles fighting good guys with swords. This is just impossible, even if the bad guys were the worst aimers in the history of movies. Two, the main character has this weapon that can fly all over the place and take out multiple bad guys, yet he only uses it a couple of times at the end of the movie. Sorry, but this excuse that he ‘will know when to use it’ is an epic fail. In a real movie with real consequences, that weapon would have saved the lives of his fellow fighters countless times.
